Our School Facilities

Classrooms

St. Paul's Primary School, located in the Lae District of Morobe Province, has classroom facilities that can be described as being in average condition. The school currently faces classroom overcrowding, with a large number of students accommodated in each classroom. To address this challenge, the school is constructing additional classrooms to expand its learning capacity. Due to limited land availability within the school campus, the new classroom buildings are being developed as two-storey structures, comprising both ground-floor and upper-floor classrooms, to maximize the efficient use of the available space.

Library

The school's library is currently non-operational due to a significant shortage of learning resources and essential library materials. Most of the books are outdated, and there is an insufficient supply of current reference materials to effectively support students' learning and research needs. As a result, the library has fallen into a run-down condition and is no longer functioning as a dedicated learning resource centre.

To maximize the use of the available space, the library has recently been repurposed to provide printing services and accommodate a few other administrative functions. While this temporary arrangement serves immediate operational needs, it has further limited the library's ability to fulfill its primary role of promoting reading, independent learning, and academic development among students.

Tap Water Access

The school is connected to the government water supply system, with tap water provided throughout the campus. However, many of the water taps have been damaged as a result of vandalism, unauthorized access, and other unlawful activities, limiting the effectiveness of the water distribution system.

Despite these challenges, the school has water storage tanks (Tuffa tanks) that serve as a reliable backup water source. These tanks help ensure that students and staff continue to have access to water during periods of water supply interruption or outages, thereby supporting the school's daily operations and maintaining basic hygiene and sanitation standards.

School Canteen

The school canteen primarily sells packaged store goods and snack items, including biscuits, soft drinks, and other ready-to-eat food products. In addition, the canteen provides a limited range of stationery items to meet the basic academic needs of students during school hours. While these services offer convenience, there is an opportunity to expand the variety of nutritious food options and educational supplies available to better support students' health, well-being, and learning.

Playing Field

The school has a well-maintained and spacious playing field that provides students with ample opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting and recreational activities. The field supports major sports such as soccer and basketball, as well as various student-initiated games and physical education activities. This facility plays a significant role in promoting students' physical fitness, teamwork, recreation, and overall well-being by providing a safe and accessible environment for both organized sports and informal play.

School Tuffa Tanks

The school has several Tuffa water storage tanks available on the campus, although some have not yet been installed or connected for operational use. One operational Tuffa tank is located behind the double-storey classroom building and is currently serving as a backup water source. This tank provides a reliable supply of water for students and staff during periods of water shortages or interruptions to the main water supply, thereby supporting the school's daily operations and maintaining essential hygiene and sanitation standards.
